With the recent Supreme Court decision on doctor assisted suicide, many of us are thinking about end of life issues.

We are bringing together legal and medical experts to help us have these important and often difficult discussions in a Jewish context.

Tuesday, June 2, 2015
7:30 p.m.

We welcome experts from Jewish, legal, and medical perspectives to discuss many of the issues involving this important conversation, including:

  • Jewish Values and End of Life
  • Advance Care Planning
  • Palliative Care
  • Physician Assisted Death
  • Continuous Palliative Sedation
  • Patient Rights/Autonomy
  • Physician rights
  • Family Conflict in End of Life Care

Moderated by Dr. Harvey Schipper, Oncologist, professor of medicine at the University of Toronto, past-President Holy Blossom Temple

Our panelists:

Dr. Sandy Buchman, Clinical Lead QI & Primary Care Engagement Palliative Care, Cancer Care Ontario, Education Lead & Family Physician Practising in Palliative Care, The Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care
Shelley R. Birenbaum, JD MSW MBE, a health law lawyer. She is President and Counsel at Shelley R. Birenbaum Professional Corporation, a firm dedicated exclusively to health law.
