Thursdays, April 3-May 8 (not April 10).

Knowledge of the history of Zionism and the State of Israel can illuminate our understanding of current events in Israel and provide valuable context for interpreting policies, actions, the peace process and political arena. Today’s headlines make more sense when you analyze them in the context of the critical events that have led us to today.

In a series of 5 sessions, Temple member Jane Herman will bring her depth of knowledge of the history of Zionism and Israel to a special HBT program. We will explore the roots which continue to influence and resonate in the ongoing story of Israel and its relations with the Palestinians and the Arab world.

In addition to suggested readings which will be provided, we will be discussing the recently-published “My Promised Land” by Ari Shavit. Pre-register and order a copy of the book at a largely discounted price.

For registration contact Elana Fehler, [email protected] or 416-789-3291, ext. 221.
