Let’s learn about play with Ellen Yack, co-author of Building Bridges Through Sensory Integration: Occupational Therapy for Children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders.
We will enjoy learning from our dynamic teacher about the pros and cons of iPad use with young children. She will review the current recommendations regarding the use of technology with toddlers and preschoolers, and we will learn from her, the advantages of “traditional” toys and their importance for child development. We will finish by learning the benefits of specific play strategies and receive recommendations of specific toys and equipment. Parents will be encouraged to participate in the discussion, share experiences and ask questions.
Ellen Yack is a paediatric occupational therapist with over 30 years of experience and has expertise in child development. She is the owner and director of Ellen Yack and Associates Paediatric Therapy Services, a private clinic in Toronto that provides occupational therapy and speech and language pathology services. Ellen has published and lectured in her field and offers professional and parent training workshops.
