Professor Sarna will present a broad social and cultural history of large synagogues as the preferred institution in North America, and explore whether the model remains well suited to the current diversity and challenges of our communities. Jonathan Sarna is the Joseph H. and Belle R. Braun Professor of American Jewish History at Brandeis University.
