On Monday October 29, a “dark and stormy night”, 28 volunteers joined Lucy Waverman, Rabbi Karen Thomashow, and the Bikur Cholim executive to prepare soup for Holy Blossom Temple congregants in need.
It was a few hours of fragrant warmth and camaraderie. The result was 80 frozen containers of Minestrone and Sweet Potato Pear soup, ready to be enjoyed over the coming winter months.
We were indeed fortunate to have Lucy Waverman sharing her expertise and delicious recipes, in a most calm and effective manner. Many thanks to Lucy and to all our participants for making time for this mitzvah.
It was our 4th Annual Soup Brigade and Greg Mahon has generously donated the containers each year.
And finally, Yasher Koach to Rabbi Thomashow for ‘back to back’ Talmud text study sessions, about the first account in scripture of Bikur Cholim.[one_half]
