The Lost and Found Sermons of Rabbi Maurice N. Eisendrath: Treasures from our Tower.
Presentation by Howard Roger & Michael Cole.
A couple of years ago, a cache of sermons, handwritten by Rabbi Eisendrath, was found in our tower. They include sermons written from the time of the rabbi’s arrival in Toronto in the fall of 1929—and some written even before then for his previous congregation in West Virginia—until he left Holy Blossom in 1943 to become the first president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. Howard and Michael will give an overview of Rabbi Eisendrath’s career and examine the topics and style of his sermons. They will also discuss the work of Temple Archives, and what we plan to do with the results of our investigation of these sermons. People who remember the rabbi are especially welcome and will be invited to share their memories.
Men and Women are welcome.
