Rabbi W. Gunther Plaut, z’l

With profound sadness we wish to inform members of Holy Blossom Temple of the death of our Senior Scholar, Rabbi W. Gunther Plaut. Rabbi Plaut was our Senior Rabbi from 1961-1977.

Rabbi Plaut died peacefully at Baycrest Hospital on Wednesday night, February 8th. He was 99 years old.  He was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth, his parents, Jonas & Selma Plaut, and his brother Rabbi Walter Plaut.  He is survived by his children Rabbi Jonathan V. and Carol Plaut and Judith Plaut; his grandchildren, Daniel and Amy Plaut, Deborah and David Elias; and his great grandson, Steven Elias.

The funeral for Rabbi Plaut will be on Sunday, February 12th at 11 a.m. at Holy Blossom Temple. Interment will follow at Holy Blossom Memorial Park on Brimley Road.

The Plaut family will receive those who bring consolations at Holy Blossom Temple on Sunday, February 12 following interment until 3 pm; and on Monday, February 13 and Tuesday, February 14th from 4.30 pm till 6 p.m. Shiva services will be held in the Max E. Enkin Boardroom on Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Zecher tzaddik l’vracha. May the memory of Rabbi W. Gunther Plaut be for a blessing.
